How Do I Find My Wifi Network

Use A Network Scanner To See Whos Using Your Wifi

How to Find Your WiFi Network Password Easiest Way!

Using your routers web interface is the ideal way of checking whos connected to your WiFi. However, there are other methods you can use. If your router doesnt offer an option to see the list via its web interface, you can download software to your computer that will scan the WiFi network youre using and list the connected devices.

There are quite a few different network scanners out there that you can use. To name a few tools that have proven its worth, we recommend LanScan for Mac, SoftPerfect for Windows and Mac, and Angry IP Scanner for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

The only downside is that these apps will only list active devices the ones that are currently online. That means you wont see any devices that are currently offline on the list.

How To Find Your Wifi Address On An Android Smartphone

Android devices do not have a built-in option to check the routers addresses out of the box. But you can use a third-party app like Wifi Analyzer.

If you have Wifi Analyzer installed on your Android smartphone, launch the app.

You will see the channel graph tab immediately.

Swipe to the Access Points tab and you will see the IP address of your router.

Whats The Point Of Hiding Your Ssid

You can also change the settings on your router and turn off your SSID broadcast so it cant be seen publicly. However, it isnt a significant cybersecurity measure. While nobody will be able to see your SSID if you hide it, the traffic from your network can still be tracked with the right tools. It wont hide your IP either.

To connect a new device to your Wi-Fi after hiding the SSID, youll have to configure your wireless settings manually.

The Internet is a really powerful tool. It gives us access to all kinds of information at a moment’s noticethink email, Google search, and Wikipedia. So there’s something a little counterintuitive about only being able to use the Internet when you sit down at a desktop computer. What if you could use the Internet from anywhere in your home or office?

To create your own Wi-Fi network, you’ll need a wireless router. This is the device that will broadcast the Wi-Fi signal from your Internet modem throughout your house. Your Internet service provider may offer you a wireless router for a small monthly fee. If you’ve never set up a Wi-Fi network before, this may be the easiest option.

If you want to buy your own router, we’d recommend spending a little more time researching different options. CNET offers a comprehensive guide on How to Buy a Router.

Some Internet modems may already have a built-in wireless router, which means you won’t need to purchase a separate one.

Connect the cables

  • Once you’ve acquired a wireless router, you’ll need to connect it to your existing Internet modem.

  • Connect an Ethernet cable from your modem to the wireless router .

How To Find Hidden Wireless Networks In Your Area In Windows

You might need to find all the wireless networks that are broadcast in your area, including those which have a weak WiFi signal and those that have hidden their SSID . For this task, you have to install a wireless network scanner and use it to identify the WiFi networks which exist in your area. However, many of these tools are expensive and only a few of them are free and work well. In this tutorial, we show you a tool that works in all versions of Windows, for free. Let’s get started:

Causes For ‘wireless Network Not Showing Up’ Issues

Problems with your router, ISP, or device could prevent your Wi-Fi network from showing up in the list of available networks. A few of the reasons that cause Wi-Fi connection problems include:

    • Device not in router’s range: Your device must be within the router’s range. In most homes, that can be up to 30 feet from the router. You may be able to connect up to 50 feet away, but the speed is slower, and the connection often drops.
    • Router not restored correctly: The router might not have been properly restored after losing power or being unplugged.
    • Network adapter turned off/disabled: The Wi-Fi connection problem isn’t always caused by the router your device could be the culprit. If a restart doesn’t help, your network adapter could be disabled, or its drivers may need updating.
    • Virus: If your device has a virus, it could block your ability to connect to Wi-Fi. A quick virus scan and restart could help.
    • Object interference: Large appliances, thick walls, or other wireless devices can interfere with your wireless connection.

Wi-Fi not showing up can be caused by these and more issues. Troubleshooting to find the problem is the key to fixing it.

    Use Your Wireless Router

You can easily find out devices that connect to your Wi-Fi by tracking them from your wireless routers IP address. This method is straightforward and doesnt require any assistance from third-party applications.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do it.

  • Go to your computer or mobile device and open up your web browser.
  • Type your Routers Gateway IP address in the URL address field and hit Enter.
  • Once you are in the webpage portal, enter your Login credentials.
  • Default usernames and passwords can be Admin and password. If not, consult with your Internet Service Providers to access login.
  • The user interface in routers can differ from one another. Navigate to find the connected devices.
  • After locating the option, you can access all the devices connected to your wireless network.
  • Alternatively, some Internet Service Providers also provide this access through their own router management application. You can head over and download the app. Launch it, Go to the router settings, and search for the Connected Devices option on your mobile or tablet devices.

Some apps can even have options of choosing to block devices from your wireless network. Make sure you consult your manufacturer or your Internet Service Providers for more information.

    My Wifi Network Disappeared Completely

Try this: Check to see where your router is positioned. If it is somewhere cramped, such as behind a couch, or crammed into a crowded equipment cabinet, it may be overheating and shutting down automatically to prevent any damage.

If youre able to move your router somewhere where it has more airflow, you should be able to solve the overheating issue.

If you feel that your router is positioned somewhere ideal and that overheating isnt the problem, there are a few other things that could be happening.

For one, your network may have reset itself due to an update. Take a look at the default network name and see if you recognize that network when looking for a connection.
