How To Use Wifi Cameras
WiFi camera setup can vary depending on your camera’s manufacturer. Two steps exist on all models for all models: setting up access to your home WiFi and setting up the location you want your pictures to go.
Most WiFi cameras will guide you through this process in their instructions or on the screen itself. Certain cameras have photo sharing Web sites set up already, meaning you’ll just need to go online to pick a username and password, and you’ll be done. Others may require you to first connect the camera to the computer, where you’ll set up the same features using your keyboard instead of an onscreen interface on the camera itself. You set up WiFi-enabled SD cards in this way as well, by first connecting the card to your computer before inserting it in the camera.
For now, WiFi-equipped cameras still include a USB cable and connection so you can hook it up to your computer if you choose. Likewise, most of these cameras still use a memory card for storage, so card readers will continue to be useful and necessary for direct connection to a computer.
Your camera may come with a CD featuring programs for photo editing or for camera setup. Not all cameras come with this software, nor is it generally required unless your camera needs to interface with your computer for WiFi setup before you can use it.
It might sound like a lot of work to set up a new WiFi-equipped camera, so we’ll look at the benefits as well as the downsides in the next section.

- Point-to-Point : Connects two locations within line of sight, usually at a distance of multiple km. Essentially forms an Ethernet bridge.
- Point-to-Multipoint links : Connects three or more locations, using one Base Station and multiple Service Provider devices connected to theAccess Point.
Base Stations and Range:
Point to Point Directing allows it to connect through weather and other active frequencies. Furthermore, this design allows the connection to reach up to up to 15 kilometers ! While producing up to 450+ Mbps!

June 10, 2016 by Matthew Rossi.
Connecting your Wireless IP cameras to a WiFi router can be troublesome depending on your level of experience and expertise. Not everyone is well versed in networking terms and technologies. Let alone what to do when they see several series of numbers separated by periods. Lets dive right in and get this accomplished.
This guide is applicable to security cameras by CCTV Camera World that feature WiFi Capability. Such cameras are commonly referred to as WiFi security cameras or Wireless IP cameras. Our WiFi cameras feature a built-in client radio that can be used to attach the camera to any 2.4Ghz 802.11 b/g/n WiFi network. You can use a strong router or Access Point to provide WiFi connectivity to the cameras and then use a wired NVR to record the cameras over the LAN.
Alternative you can also use our WiFi NVR for signal transmission distances up to 200ft to create a standalone wireless security camera system that doesn’t require any networking knowledge. Our wireless security cameras feature plug and play connectivity to detect and connect to our WiFi NVR without any configuration.
Use The Cameras Proprietary Security Software
i. Go online and download the proprietary security software for your camera.
ii. Next, install the software and launch it.
iii. Then input the camera user identification number and password into the required fields in the software. Once you have successfully done that, your camera will be automatically added to the database.

Configure The Dvr Recorder To Your Local Network
Now connect the DVR to one of the ports on the network switch using a CAT5 cable. Then, pick another cable and plug it into the uplink port of the network switch to link with the internet router.
Once done with that, you can now configure the DVR to an IP address thats compatible with your routers address. This will help ensure the two can communicate seamlessly without IP conflict. To configure the DVR to the local network:
- Open the DVR management software and go to the main menu
- From the setting option, click Network and choose TCP/ IP
- The system will now display the IP addresses of the connected devices. The IP Address is the address for the DVR and should be matching with the routers address .
- If the DVRs IP Address doesnt match that of the router, you can easily correct it from this page. Only the first three octets should be similar as the fourth one is the unique identity of the respective device. If the routers IP address is 192.168.1.1, you assign your DVR an IP address like 192.168.1.200. That way, the first three octets are identical and our DVR is configured.

V Dc Power To Camera + Network Cable To Router
This method will show you how to connect an IP camera to your router and view it over a network, while supplying power to the camera using a 12V DC power adaptor.
a) Connect a 12V DC power supply to your camera and connect the power adaptor to the wall to power the camera.
b) Connect a network cable from the camera to the router to establish a data connection between the camera and the router.
c) Give the camera about 2-3 minutes to boot. Use our IP Finder Config Tool to find the camera on your local area network . Below is a screen shot of how it looks in our case.
The camera currently has an IP address of 10.1.1.65. As explained in our article connecting security cameras to the internet, for the camera to be reachable from the computer on your network, its IP address has to match the IP scheme of your network. In our case our router IP is 192.168.1.1, so we are going to have to change the IP address of the camera. To change the IP simple press the pencil icon to edit.
d) We are going to set the camera to an IP of 192.168.1.X, we chose 192.168.1.12. Before we go ahead and change the IP address, we have to think about duplicate IP addresses on the network which would create networking issues. To see if a specific IP address is available on your LAN, use the command prompt in Windows to ping the address you intend to use. Below is a video explaining how to use the ping command. You can use this command on Mac as well by using the terminal.
