How To Get A Wi

There are a couple of reasons why you might want to access your login credentials for your home wireless network from your phone. The first being that you have forgotten your login and would like to find the Wi-Fi password on your iPhone, or perhaps you would like to set up a hotspot and share your wireless password with a friend or family member to provide access to the Internet through your iOS device.
Why Wont My Mac Let Me Type In A Wi
You can opt to follow a network in the Advanced section of system preferences. Select your network > click +minus > allow it to find it again. Additionally, you can click on your WiFi icon on the page, which takes you directly to the network preferences page. After 10. Seven they removed the option to change wifi passwords automatically.
Tips For Choosing A Secure Wi
- Avoid the obvious cop-outs like 12345, Mypassword or Qwerty. Theres no point in having a password if a grade schooler could guess it.
- Longer passwords are tougher to crack. Its simple the more letters, numbers and special characters you have, the tougher it is to guess.
- While its tempting to choose an easy-to-remember password like a pets name or your anniversary date, it isnt very secure. If someone knows anything about you and wants to hack your Wi-Fi, they have a good chance of guessing it.

Log In To Your Router Using A Browser
Now that you have the IP address of your router, you can access its settings using a standard web browser like Firefox or Chrome.
Step 1: Open any web browser and type the routers IP address in the address bar.
Step 2: Your routers web interface appears within the browser. Log in using your username and password.
If you havent previously set up a username and password, you must log in using the defaults. Different brands of routers have different default usernames and passwords, but they are usually very generic. In most cases, the combo is admin and password.
This information is often printed on a sticker somewhere on the router itself. Otherwise, refer to your routers instructions to find the correct username and password, or go to the manufacturers website, which will often list them as well.
Know Your Security Type
There should also be a box named Security Type or something similar. This displays the type of security running on your Wi-Fi. There are three main types to choose from:
- WEP: This is the weakest form of security, so its not recommended
- WPA: Better and may be the best option for some older systems
- WPA2: This is the most secure type, so choose this if your system is compatible with it
Choose the security type that works best for you. Changing this is not part of the password-changing process, but while youre in the routers administration page, its a good thing to check.

Why Should You Change Your Wi
There are some good reasons to change your password periodically, not just when you get your Wi-Fi set up. Two to three times a year is probably good. Here are some reasons you may want to do it even more often:
- You do a lot of online transactions. If someone hacks your Wi-Fi, they may be able to see your financial information and passwords.
- You live in an area where neighbors can see and potentially connect to your Wi-Fi. Whatever they do online will be traced back to your IP address. Do you trust your neighbors that much?
- You can use it as a punishment or reward for your children. If they are grounded from the internet, simply change the password and dont let them know it until you want to.
- The tech who set up your Wi-Fi definitely knows the password. Whos to say they wont look to make a quick buck by selling it to hackers?
Changing your Wi-Fi password and network name doesnt take very long, and the benefits far outweigh the inconvenience of the 10- to 15-minute process.
If these steps dont work for you, contact your internet provider or router manufacturer and ask for instructions. When youre done, your home Wi-Fi and everything you do on it will be a lot safer.

How To Change Your Router’s Wifi Password
1. Open your browser to the configuration page of your router:
You can access your router’s configuration page through your web browser on your computer connected to your network. If you can’t connect top the Wi-Fi because you don’t know the password, you can use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to the router. This will bypass the need for the Wi-Fi password.
Typical router addresses are 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1, 192.168.2.1, or 10.0.1.1 for Apple. Enter this address into your browser’s address bar. If this doesn’t work then you can press and hold the Reset button on your router for about 30 seconds to reset it to factory default settings. Then you can look up the default address for your router model and enter it into your browser.
2. Enter your router’s username and password details:
Every router requires a username and password before you can access the interface. In many cases the default username is “admin” and the password is “admin” or “password”. Of course this varies from model to model, so you should check your model online to see your exact login information. Most D-Link routers have a default user name of admin and password of admin or blank.
3. Open the Wireless section:
Once you are logged into your router, you will need to find the Wireless section of the configuration page. The exact name varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but generally you are looking for a “Wireless” or “Wireless Settings/Setup” tab or button.
How To Choose A Strong Wifi Password
Think of your wifi password like the lock on your front door. Passwords with personal information like the name of your dog or your home address are like the locks on your bathroom door. It can easily be picked or knocked down with little to no effort. Passwords that have been assigned by the service provider are like your standard door lock. While they may be more difficult to crack, most hackers have a list of commonly assigned passwords from each company. With these tools in hand, they can manage to unlock it. Then, there are strong passwords. These are like the locks on a bank vault in other words, they’re much harder to break. A strong password includes the following characteristics:
- A minimum of eight characters
- Both uppercase and lowercase letters

How To Change The Saved Wi
Now we move to the second scenario: changing the Wi-Fi password that Windows 10 has saved for your device. This lets you fix your Wi-Fi password if you mistyped it earlier. Or if you’ve just changed your Wi-Fi password and need to enter the new one, you can do so by following this method.
One easy way to change your Wi-Fi password for Windows in this way is through the same menu that you use to view your Wi-Fi password. By heading to the Network and Sharing Center and viewing your password, you can change what’s saved as long as you have admin rights on your computer.
As stated in that guide, changing this field updates the password that Windows uses to connect to your Wi-Fi network. After entering your new password here, you should be able to connect properly.
If you don’t want to use this method, you can also change the saved password by removing the network from your computer and reconnecting with the new password. To do this, head to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi. Click on Manage known networks to show all the Wi-Fi networks that your computer has connected to.
Now, select the network you want to change the password for and click Forget to erase it from your machine. After this, click the network icon in your System Tray, choose your network name again, and reconnect by entering the new password.
If everything works out right, your computer will reconnect to your network with the new password.
