Usually, the main reason for this is the router or hardware not being able to support the WiFi connection. If your WiFi connection is 5GHz, there are chances that your router may not be compatible. Even if some routers can support 5GHz connections, you might still need to manually set up 5GHz WiFi on your laptop or computer. Check If Your Network Adapter Supports 5ghz Wi
To check the network adapters on your laptop, you can follow the steps below:
Step 1. Right click the Start menu and select Device Manager form context menu.

The first thing youll want to keep in mind before set up is that devices work differently on 5GHz and 2.4GHz WiFi bands. 5GHz capable devices on a 5GHz Wifi channel give you the best data rates from your router. The problem is that 5GHz WiFi has a shorter range than 2.4GHz . Also, any older devices you may have in your home will only work on the 2.4GHz band. The reason why Im mentioning the differences between 5GHz and 2.4GHz is because this router gives both bands. It also gives you two choices for setup: have one SSID name that covers both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands OR create separate SSID names for each band. Of course, all the devices on the router will still work together whichever band they use to connect.

If youre using a dual-band Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 router, you can connect your client devices to either a 2.4GHz band or a 5GHz band. If you have a tri-band router, you get an extra 5GHz band that you can dedicate to gaming and video streaming. A 5GHz connection will provide better performance at short ranges than 2.4GHz. This is because 5GHz, while somewhat faster, can’t travel as far or transmit through some objects due to that band’s shorter wavelengths. On the other hand, the 2.4GHz band travels further but tends to have more congestion and fewer channel options.
That said, if you want to keep using 2.4GHz, consider experimenting with the channel selection. “Auto” usually does a decent job of hopping around the channel options and finding the best one, but if you’re struggling with client connections, try manually setting the channel to 1 or 11. The 2.4GHz band has a total of 11 channels you can switch among to avoid interference, with channel 6 usually being the default. When you select a given channel, there’s usually some signal spillover. So, selecting channel 2, for example, will often spill traffic onto channels 1 and 3. Thus, switching to the extremes of 1 or 11, the farthest points from the default of 6, can sometimes ensure the best-performing connections.
