Ask for access to my computer?

Having purchased a wifi blast I did not experience the claimed advantages. Acquired about June 2020. What bothers and concerns me more was the phone call from supposedly Wifi Blast, about reconfiguring the unit or the need to, and the person on the phone firstly inferred to a refund but needed my card number? To which I replied that he didnt need my card number as he should be able to do a reversal as he / the company would already have it upon purchase!

Then he insisted that he needed access to my computer to do the reconfigure, stating that I only had 4 days to do it, to which my reply was There is no way youre getting access to my computer. This seemed to aggravate him by his tone. Then a quick down hill from there as I was told the refund would be forfeited/ unit would be useless.

I thanked him for his **** product and service and hung up. . Only to receive another phone call today 23/4/2021 from a lady this time, after going through my product Id spiel I informed her about the call already received !!

Terrible product if not computer suavy. Have to create more passwords and usernames

Before You Get Started

Before you set up your wifi extender, you may benefit from downloading Netgears Analytics App. This app can help you accurately determine where the weakest wifi spots are and will save you the time and trouble of trying to figure it out on your own. This app is also useful after you install a wifi extender to make sure its working as well as it could.

While you cant change the architectural integrity of your home to get the best wifi coverage, you can make sure that you clear and open paths. If your home is cluttered, getting better wifi could be an incentive for getting rid of unnecessary or bulky items that can infer with a signal.

Check Your Routers Transmission Frequency

Your routers transmission frequency is another factor you should consider when buying a WiFi booster in general. As mentioned earlier, there are two bands for WiFi transmission frequency, the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz WiFi bands. The two differ in speed and range. The 2.4 GHz has a wider reach but lower bandwidth. On the other hand, the 5 GHz band has a closer range but a faster bandwidth. It is also a dual-band that allows it to function at two different frequencies.

Wifiblast uses a 2.4 GHz band. So if you are planning to buy it, make sure that your router runs a 2.4 GHz band as well. Of course, a 2.4 GHz device wouldnt be able to connect to a 5 GHz SSID, unlike the dual-band that can connect to either.

The easiest way to check your WiFi frequency band is on your mobile phone. Just go to your WiFi setting then select the SSID to which you are connected. It should display all the WiFis properties including the frequency.

Do You Need A Desktop Or Plug

Wifi Extender 300Mbps Wifi Range Repeater Wireless ...

There are two types of range extenders desktop and plug-in. Most desktop extenders look just like a typical wireless router and are typically equipped with external adjustable antennas, multiple LAN ports for connecting to devices like TVs and gaming consoles, and USB ports for attaching to peripherals such as storage drives and .

Plug-in extenders are much smaller than their desktop counterparts and are inserted right into a wall outlet. Some models have external antennas, while others use internal antennas to present an unobtrusive profile. Due to their size, plug-in extenders usually only have a single LAN port and lack USB connectivity, making them less versatile but more affordable than desktop extenders. If you can’t afford to sacrifice a wall outlet, look for a plug-in model that offers a pass-through outlet.

It’s also worth noting that, if you’re having the rather specific issue of connecting a computer to Wi-Fi in a particular part of your home, you might be better served by a USB Wi-Fi adapter. For as little as $15, these adapters are essentially antennas that plug directly into your computer to help it pull in a better Wi-Fi signal.

Make Sure Youre Getting At Least 300n Speeds

To ensure that your repeater is connecting at the fastest possible speed , we recommend you connect to your repeater by typing //192.168.1.2 into your web browsers address bar and browsing to Wireless > Status.

Make sure the Data Rate under WLAN Repeater Information is 300 Mbps or greater. Next, right-click your wireless network , select Status, and under Connection verify that youre connected at a speed at or near 300 Mbps .

If the Data Rate is showing as 54 Mbps or lower, browse to Wireless > Basic, click on Site Survey and try re-connecting to your network until it connects at the highest speed.

Some useful tips if you cant get this to work: try WPA2 instead of WPA . Try disconnecting from your network entirely, then logging back on and repeating the steps above. What Does Wifiblast Do Then

Pretty much like any WiFi range extender, Wifiblast uses your existing WiFi signal and amplifies it in spaces where there is low or no reception. Dead spots are common pains within big spaces like offices and huge buildings. But, it could also happen even in households. WiFi signals cannot penetrate solid objects like walls. Your distance from your router can also greatly affect the WiFi reception of your device.

However, this is not the only reason for a spotty connection. Some problems are inherent on the servers or on the ISP itself. Additionally, your internet connection might also appear slow if your area has no network reception in general. Sadly, no WiFi booster can help you in that matter.

In order for Wifiblast to work, your router must have a steady connection. Then, it will be up to Wifiblast to improve your WiFi coverage. What it does is pretty basic. It pushes the WiFi signals it receives to your devices so you can surf the net anywhere from your home.

In terms of internet bandwidth, Wifiblast can help you maximize it given your ISP doesnt hamper your connection. If you have a 300 Mbps plan, Wifiblast might help you to fully enjoy that. But if your internet bandwidth is only at 25 Mbps, per se, then you cant expect anything beyond that. It doesnt work some sort of magic that miraculously extends your bandwidth beyond what you pay for.

    How To Set Up Wifiblast

Supposedly, this WiFi booster has an easy plug and play setup. But for non-techie people, setting it up can cause a headache. There are two ways to connect Wifiblast to your router. You can set it up using your computer or laptop. But, using your phone or tablet is an easier alternative way to configure it.

Heres how you can configure Wifiblast through your phone.

  • The first step is to plug in your Wifiblast to a power source. The light beside the power logo indicates that the device is already powered up.
  • The next step is to go to your phones WiFi settings and scan for a network. Should the device work properly, youll see an open network named WiFi Repeater. Connect to that network.
  • Launch your phone browser and type in 192.168.10.1. This IP address is the default gateway to the admin page of any router. Use admin as both username and password to log in. You can choose to change this later to avoid unauthorized login to your networks admin page.
  • Once you are in the admin page, change the mode of connection from Access Point to Repeater Mode.
  • At this point, you have to connect Wifiblast to your main router. After you switch to Repeater Mode, youll see the active WiFi networks that your device is capturing. Click on the network you intend to use.
  • Once you click on Apply, the configuration will start. Youll notice that youll get automatically connected to the main router. This means that the configuration is successful.

    Other Things To Consider

Aside from my speed tests, I made sure to stream video in my bedroom on each extender’s network and I made several video calls on each network, too. I also spent time playing with each extender’s settings. You shouldn’t expect much, but most will at least make it easy to change the extension network’s name or password. Some include app controls with extra features, too.

My top pick, the TP-Link RE505X, makes it easy to tweak settings via TP-Link’s Tether app on an Android or iOS device. Again, the features make for slim pickings, but you can check signal strength or turn on High-Speed Mode, which dedicates the 2.4GHz band for traffic from the router to the range extender, leaving the 5GHz free for your normal Wi-Fi network traffic. That mode actually wasn’t as fast as sharing the 5GHz band like normal when I tested it out, because those incoming 2.4GHz speeds are limited, but it still might be a useful option in some situations.

    How To Extend Wifi Range

    WIFIBLAST

Your wifi router may have a button for a 5GHz band. If it does, you will probably want to utilize this as it is less congested and is not as affected by wireless interferences as much as 2.4GHz. One downside to 5GHz is that it has a tendency to have range issues now and then, but placement can decrease the likelihood of interruptions in your wifi performance.

With this in mind, keep the extender between your wifi router and wireless devices and preferably in an open space. A crowded area with Bluetooth gadgets or even in a kitchen near a microwave could interfere with how well the extender boosts the wifi signal.

With so many of us working from home due to the coronavirus, many US homes have more apps than ever careening across their Wi-Fi networks. And some of these require not only a good amount of bandwidth, but a steady amount of bandwidth. When they don’t get it, that chat you’re having with your boss on your company’s voice over IP phone system suddenly sounds like one of you is underwater. The same goes for many consumer-grade apps, especially video streaming services, like Netflix, and certainly the latest games.

Most folks figure they need to upgrade their Wi-Fi in that situation, so they either buy a new wireless router or upgrade their internet service or both. Well, hang on before you do that, because for well under $100 in most cases you have another option. Chances are, a range extender will get the job done. Aptly named, range extenders pick up your router’s Wi-Fi signal, amplify it, and rebroadcast the boosted signal.
