Flushdns To Speed Up Internet Using Cmd
Our computer maintains a list of the websites and their corresponding IP addresses that we access the most in the DNS resolver cache. Sometimes, these data become obsolete after months or weeks. So when we flush our DNS resolver cache, we actually flush out the obsolete data and make new entries in the DNS resolver cache table.
Using this command, you might initially experience a slower connection because of the requirement of the new DNS lookups for every resource. However, you will soon experience faster loading of the websites in your browser.

Use An Ethernet Cable Instead Of Wi
Although this can be a hassle, most computers and laptops have an ethernet port that you can use to create a physical connection with your router. A standard Cat 5e cable is capable of 1,000 Mbps, around double a 2.4 GHz connection in ideal conditions.
Not only are the speeds better, but using an ethernet cord is also a good way to get around network interference and distance limits. You can easily reach 300 feet with an ethernet cable without your speeds decreasing.

How To Test Download Speed
The download measurement is performed by opening multiple connections to a server and simultaneously starting the download of a large data file on all connections. This approach ensures that the entire bandwidth of the internet connection is maxed out, and thereby the maximum data throughput can be measured. Recording the data throughput against measurement time finally yields the available internet speed for downloading data.
What Is A Ping
The ping or latency describes the delay of a signal due to the time it takes that signal to travel to its destination. In this context, it represents the time it takes a data package to complete its roundtrip over the network and the acknowledgment from the server that it was received. As a value of time, it is denoted as such, most often in Milliseconds . It’s a value for the responsiveness of your connection.

Tip #2 Adjust Your Routers Antennas
If your router has external adjustable antennas, try tweaking them.
Router antennas are usually omnidirectional, Signals are sent out perpendicular to the antenna, which means a vertical antenna will send out horizontal signals, and vice versa.
If youre trying to connect to a router thats on another floor of your house, try flipping the antenna horizontally.
But, if you dont see antennas on your router dont panic. Many routers are built with antennas within the device shell.
Using Software Prioritizes Data Streams That Are More Important
Quality of Service is a feature newer routers and VPNs currently have, which automatically prioritizes certain applications over others. A good QoS feature should understand the applications that matter most to you and allow real-time traffic prioritization like video calling, streaming, VoIP, etc. More traffic is less important like application updates.
That means you can keep Messenger calls or play games smoothly while other apps are off and in slow mode while waiting for your important stream to end.

To speed up the internet using cmd, we have come up with some Windows tweaks. Some of these tweaks and tricks include playing with DNS cache, pinging to the default gateway, and using netsh int tcp command along with different attributes to increase the internet speed.
We often encounter problems with the slow internet connection and we really do not know what to do next. In most of the cases, at most we do is restart our device or the router and then wait for the increased internet speed.
If that does not work, we complain to our service provider and even if the slow internet speed problem persists, we, eventually, change our internet provider for a better speedy connection. So, here are some of the tips and tricks on speeding up the internet using cmd.
Scan Your Computer For Viruses
Sometimes, your internet speed will slow down because something on your device is taking up all the bandwidth. This might be all right if it was an important update or a large download which you can check inside Windows task manager but it can be infuriating if its a virus.
Luckily, theres plenty of good antivirus software out there. You can even get free antivirus software if you only want to check to see if theres a major problem with your device. Simply install a reliable program and run a full system scan to find out if theres a bug hiding somewhere.

Tip #: Find A Better Spot For Your Wireless Router
Wireless routers work by sending radio signals outward in all directions. However, as those signals are very high frequency, they have a relatively short range. Additionally, as with all radio signals, they can slow down or get blocked by objects in their path, degrading the quality of the signal and reducing your wifi internet speeds.
One way to boost your speed is to relocate your router. If youre normally using your internet close to your router, youre probably fine. But if your router is located behind objects and in the corner of your house, your speed issues could be related to distance or obstacles.
For example, with my router located behind my TV, on the other end of my house , and with a door closed, my speed test results were as follows:
After moving my router to a more open position and opening the door to remove extra interference, my results were better:
Thats a 36.5 percent speed increase just by changing two small things.
It may not be possible to relocate your router. However, it should be possible to reduce the number of obstacles, especially metal ones, that might be directly in the path of your routers signals.
Move Closer To Your Router
As you get further from your router, the quality of the signal will decrease. This means that more of the data packets will get lost, and your device wont receive all the information the router tries to send it. Sending the data again takes time, so the overall speed decreases.
A typical home router on the 2.4 GHz frequency will have a clear range of around 300 feet. However, the walls, doors and furniture in your house can easily drop this by half or more. Even if youre in this area, fewer data packets will be lost if youre closer to the router, so its worth trying this before you continue.
You can also try moving the router to a more central location, rather than, for example, the corner of your house, which decreases its effectiveness.

Fast Internet Or Nothing
Were confident that at least one of the solutions in this guide will help fix your Macs slow internet issues. If the problem persists, you should reach out to your internet provider.
You could also try visiting an authorized Apple Service Center to get your Mac examined for any hardware damage a faulty Wi-Fi antenna can also cause slow internet speed. If theres no authorized Apple Service Center near you, or you are reluctant to take your Mac outside of where you live or work, contact our premium customer support for an advanced system tune-up.
Compare The Speed With Your Contract
Are download and upload speeds close to those advertised by the provider? If the speed is correct in the signed contract but you are not satisfied, its time to upgrade the Internet to a higher speed plan.
If the speed you measured is lower than in the contract, contact the supplier and have a technician come to your home to have it checked. Try out some of these options along with the troubleshooting tips they shared with you. If your Wifi is unstable, then you may need to find another ISP.

Get A New Internet Service Provider
If youve tried everything and youre still experiencing slow internet speeds, then it may be time to shop around for a new ISP. Internet companies are always trying to one-up each other to get your business, so there may be a newer, faster service thats now available to you.
Even if you live out in the middle of nowhere, and theres only one traditional provider, there are other options. Unlimited mobile hotspot devices are getting faster and more reliable, and high-speed satellite internet options such as Elon Musks Starlink are starting to become available.
Tip #: Check To See If You Have Unwanted Guests Using Your Wifi
If youre using an unsecured wifi connection, stop what youre doing and secure it right away. If youre in an urban or suburban area with an unsecured wifi connection, theres a good chance one of your neighbors or anyone else is hopping onto your wifi and using up your bandwidth. They may be doing this intentionally or unintentionally, as many devices are set to automatically connect to any unsecured wifi connection available.
Once youve double checked your security, you can browse your routers connection logs to determine who else is currently or has been connected to your homes wifi.
You may need to check your routers instructions for the proper LAN IP address to connect to the router through a web browser. Many use 192.168.1.1 or 18.104.22.168, but yours may also other LAN IPs. My router uses 10.10.10.254.
Once Ive logged into the interface, I can go to several different areas to check on what devices are connected to my wifi. Your routers interface may label this differently. For me, I can find the log of connected devices under Network or under Wireless.
Here, I can see that there are 6 named devices currently connected to my router:
If you see a section shows Hostname, MAC Address and IP Address as labels, youve found what youre looking for. Youll need to draw your attention to Hostname in particular, as this will indicate the name of the devices connected to your network.

You may not know but your Router is actually a mini computer with its own CPU, memory, local memory, and even an operating system. Just like any other computer, it can have any problems, such as CPU overheating, memory or OS crash, etc. Just like you restarting your computer when it works, you can and should do the same thing with your Router.
