NEW! Blink Sync Module 2 Unboxing & Setup Local Storage for Wi-Fi Camera – No Subscription

In the case that resetting your camera or cameras does not work, you may need to reset your Blink Sync Module.

A few things that might cause Sync Module Issues:

  • Changing the Router
  • Changing Wi-Fi settings )
  • Power Outages
  • Blink-#### Does not appear during setup process

Of course, some people have reported that problems just randomly occurred. Theres usually a reason, but that reason is just unknown.

Note: The Blink Mini connects to Wi-Fi directly and does not use a sync module.

There are two generations of the sync module, but the reset button has the same function on both generations. The second generation added the option to store pictures and videos on an attached USB drive.

Blink Features You Can Use Without Wi

Powered by batteries that run for over two years, Blink cameras do not rely on traditional electrical wiring like many other security cameras. The reliance on battery power allows for easy installation and portability that is not seen in other brands. This allows for cameras to be placed in wide-open spaces for easy viewing or in indiscriminate locations due to how small the devices are.

Even when the Blink camera loses its connection with Wi-Fi, it will still be powered on and display a status light, showing that it is operational. The status light is critical, as even when youre unable to access the camera feed, the camera still gives off the presence that the area is under surveillance.

Troubleshooting The Blink Camera

If youre having issues with using the Live View feature on your camera, there are a few places where something mightve went wrong.

The most common problem comes from a bad wireless connection. Your cameras could be too far from the Sync Module or the router. Additionally, your router might be in need of a restart.

Its also important to note that your cameras need batteries to run. When the energy is depleted, the cameras will shut down.

Amazon recommends that you use AA lithium batteries since they last longer than rechargeable or alkaline options. Youll want to check on the Blinks battery life often to avoid the system turning off.

How To Connect/reconnect Blink Cameras To Wi

When setting up your Blink camera, connecting to Wi-Fi is the first step to a successful camera connection. To begin the setup process, you will need to download the accompanying Blink app and plug the Sync Module into a wall outlet in your home. For the strongest connection between the Sync Module and the Blink camera, consider distance and obstacles when choosing an outlet.

The last step is to start the installation wizard on the Blink app on your smartphone. Launching the app will prompt you to enter your Wi-Fi credentials. Then, voila! Your Blink camera will be connected until you need to change your password, change internet providers, or take the cameras to another location away from your home.

To reconnect, you will simply follow the initial steps again as the setup wizard will once again prompt the installation process.

The Blink Sync Module is an integral part of this security camera package. Optimal positioning the Blink Sync Module makes a huge difference in the effectiveness of the remotely distributed cameras. This article will focus on where to put the Blink Sync Module and how to put it there.

The Blink Sync Module is used on the Blink Indoor Home Security Camera and Blink XT Outdoor systems. Unlike most wireless home security camera systems where the camera directly connects to WiFi, Blink cameras remotely connect to a centrally located device known as the sync module.

Each camera connects to the Blink Sync Module using LFR . This should not be confused with a WiFi signal like 802.11b. The Blink Sync Module is connected to WiFi via the wireless router at 2.4GHz using 802.11 b/g/n.

Selecting a cameras settings will reveal two key strength indicators. There are five bars. Ideally, all will be blue. It is critical for each indicator to show 3 or more bars of signal strength. Les than three bars will result in unreliable communication.

The first indicator is the Camera to WiFi indicator. This measures the signal strength between the sync module and wireless router.

Next is the Camera to Sync Module indicator. This shows the strength of the low frequency radio signal between the camera and sync module.

If removing a camera from a system is how you reset the camera, then why is there a reset button on every camera?

There was a customer that actually asked Blink that question, and Blinks response was:

In general there is no need to reset Blink cameras . If your concern is resale, when the camera is deleted from your system, it is automatically reset.

Blink does give us a few examples of when we might need to use the reset button, and they flat out tell us what the reset button does not do. I havent figured out why they actually call it a reset button.
