Which Band Is My Router Using
To check whether your Wi-Fi is using the 5GHz or 2.4GHz channel on a Mac you simply need to click on the Wi-Fi icon in the top nav bar while holding down the Option/Alt key.
This will give you a bunch of information on your Wi-Fi, and in the middle it will show which channel your Wi-Fi is using right now.
See below for the channel usage on a couple of different Macs. The one on the left is using the 5GHz channel. The one on the right is using the 2.4GHz channel.

When you configure your router for the first time using the HUAWEI AI Life App and set your Wi-Fi name and password, Prioritize 5 GHz will be enabled by default. At this point, the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks will have the same name.
You can use the following methods to determine whether your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

Use 5 Ghz For A Device Closer To The Router
If you’re able to use most of your devices near your router, 5 GHz is your best choice to take advantage of higher speeds. Similarly, if you’re doing a lot of high-bandwidth activities online, such as gaming or videoconferencing, it’s best to use this frequency and move as close as possible to the router. Or if, as stated above, you’re in an apartment or condo with many other units surrounding you, 5 GHz will help you avoid wireless congestion.

Check Your Signal Strength
If the signal isnt strong enough, you wont be able to connect reliably to your Wi-Fi network no matter which channel you choose. Again, you can use a Wi-Fi analyzer app to determine your signal strength the closer to 10 dBm, the stronger the signal. A stronger signal gives you a better chance of a reliable Wi-Fi connection. The strongest signal strength will usually be a few feet from your access point, but not right next to it.
If you have a weak Wi-Fi signal, try these things:
Move your access point, if you can, to reduce the number of walls or other obstacles that are between your access point and your PC. The fewer the walls and other obstacles the better.
Move your PC closer to the access point if you can. Closer is better, but not right next to it.
Move the access point towards the middle of your home or room if you can, and higher if possible. Placing it in a corner or under a desk can reduce your Wi-Fi signal strength.
Check for things that can cause interference .
Check how your device is oriented when using Wi-Fi. Your position can cause some signal loss.
If moving closer to the access point or moving the access point itself isnt an option, you can try a network extender to improve your Wi-Fi signal. Network extenders are usually small devices that you can plug into an electrical outlet anywhere in your home.
Can You Use Both Wi
This really depends on what you mean by the same time.
If you have a dual-band router, it can provide both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi at the same time.3 But your device itself will only connect to one Wi-Fi frequency at a time. Although its a sweet idea, your device cant use both simultaneously. Youll have to switch between both.

Wireless internet, or WiFi, works by using a specific “band” of frequencies to send information to and from your devices. The 2.4GHz band is useful for connecting to the router from a long distance or through lots of walls and obstructions. The 5GHz band allows for a much faster internet connection. Most modern routers just combine both of these signals into one WiFi network. This is usually a good thing, but when you are connecting a device that can only use 2.4GHz, the ‘dual band’ WiFi network can confuse the device.
Green Feathers WiFi cameras, most ‘smart’ devices and devices such as Sonos and Alexa use 2.4GHz signals, which can cause connection issues for some users.
This guide shows you how to solve this problem and get your camera connected to your device. There are 3 solutions to try:
1. Move away from the router
Move further away from the router when setting up the camera, but not so you are out of WiFi range. This increases the chance of your mobile or tablet picking up the 2.4GHz signal as it can penetrate walls and obstructions more effectively than the 5GHz signal.
2. Change the settings on your router*

The two WiFi bands have recently been combined into one with the Comcast gateway devices. If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can separate the 2.4 and the 5.0 bands and give them two different broadcast names / SSID’s
Associate the lightbulb with the 2.4 band’s SSID and password.

I See Two Or More Network
If you see two or more networks, one of them may be a 5 GHz band. Look at thenames of your Wi-Fi network.
- A 2.4 GHz network name may be ended with “24G”, “2.4”, or”24″, for example, Homenetwork24G
- A 5 GHz network name may be ended with “5G” or “5”, for example: Homenetwork5
- I don’t see any network name associated with 2.4 or 5. That means your Internet Service Provider may have set one of your network bands as”Guest” or another name. To find out your network band, you need to log in to your Wi-Fi router. If you haven’t changed your default user name and password for your Wi-Fi router, here’s the login information for some router brands. If you have other router brands, please search on the internet for its login information.
