What Range Do You Need To Cover
One of the first things you need to figure out is how much range youll need. Is your home more than one level high? Are there any walls between rooms in your house or apartment building that might interfere with Wi-Fi signals?
If you have a large home, then youll need something with greater range so that the signal doesnt drop in some far-off corner of your home.
Routers come with different coverage ranges. These devices range in size from 1,100 square feet to 5,500 square feet on our list, so its essential to get one that will cover the amount of space you require. For larger homes, I recommend a mesh router.

I wouldn’t expect your ISP to solve a wireless-network problem withyour Netgear router.

“tried” how, exactly? Visit , put in your model number, and look for Downloads. Find the kit. Download the kit you want. Read the”Release Notes” file for instructions.
> Current firmware version is V184.108.40.206 and no updates available
“Latest” and “best” are spelled differently for a reason.
Buy another apostrophe or two. “cant” is a word, different from”can’t”.

The Size Of Your Home
The size of your home plays a big role in determining what band you should use. For users with larger homes, the 2.4 GHz band may be a better choice to provide the entire home with coverage.
For smaller living spaces such as a condo or apartment, 5GHz is great to provide you with speedy internet. Along with this, it will also prevent interference from the many networks around you.
However, if you would like to take advantage of the 5 GHz band in a larger home, it may be beneficial to consider investing in a network extender. This will allow you to have greater coverage while reaping all the benefits of the 5 GHz band.
If your router separates the two bands, make sure youre connecting your devices to the best band for them, taking into account their location with the router.

Whats The Difference Between A Router Vs Modem
Your modem translates signals sent by Cox into data that your local devices can understand. The modem is plugged into an outlet, and the router is connected to it. A router serves as a link between your devices and the internet by functioning as a gateway.
A modem and a router are required to share a single internet connection using several devices with Cox Internet service. You can purchase your router or rent the equipment from Cox.

Answers To Most Commonly Asked Questions Concerning Cox Panoramic
Question: Using Panoramic, my wifi signal is constantly dropping and coming back on. Its supposed to be giving me the best possible signal. But its so bad that I cant stay connected to the internet. I try resetting it, doesnt work, and now the Internet isnt even working.
Panoramic isnt for everyone. Its manufactured to fit the need of the average size apartment, condo or small house at approximately 1500sqf. It attempts to find the best channel to distribute WIFI by constantly changing the RF channel to find the one with the least amount of traffic at the time. Channels change depending on other competing radio frequencies. This can generate from another network nearby, interference, range and bandwidth restriction. For example, the neighbors wifi, appliances or other devices in the home like remote controllers or baby monitors. There are helpful tools and apps that allow for RF scanning. The one we like to use on sites is available to anyone called WIFI SCANNER. Link Below.

Why Do I Have To Rent But Not Purchase
As explained by COX, this WIFI gateway is only available for rent to ensure they can upgrade the firmware and software when new functions or security features need to take place.
Panoramic WIFI Gateway is a non-tech-savvy solution to keep you away from losing Internet connection now and then. Its also vital to consider your net usage and house area to choose the right rental package.
In the end, it is safe to say that this WIFI Gateway should not be compared with the conventional separate modems and routers. The two concepts simply fall into different categories. Thank you for walking through the Panoramic WIFI Gateway with us. All the best!

Be Clear On Your Budget
The next thing to think about is your budget. A router isnt a one-size-fits-all kind of device, so youll need to consider what features are most important to you before making a decision.
Cheaper routers are usually not the latest and would be a good option for lower speeds and average use. Most routers on the market range in price from $50 to $300+. For Ultimate 500 or below, something below $120 would work.
For Cox Gigablast, you will likely want a more high-end router with broader coverage and faster speeds which are around $160-$300.
Equipment Requirements For Optimal Experience
Cox only recommends and provides certified DOCSIS 3.0 and DOCSIS 3.1 equipment to ensure the best and fastest internet experience, and provides the latest in WiFi technology.DOCSIS 3.1 is the very latest Data Over Cable Systems Interface Specification , and includes many new, advanced performance-enhancing features that are not available on DOCSIS 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, or 3.0 devices. If you are purchasing WiFi equipment, then 802.11ac Dual Band is recommended.

Ghz Vs 5 Ghz Whats The Difference
Many people are unaware that there are even two bands until they happen to see it pop up on their computer. When connecting a new device to your Wi-Fi network, you may actually see two to three different options.
For example, lets say that your wifi name is AdamsFamily. When looking to connect, you might be provided with AdamsFamily, AdamsFamily2.4G, and AdamsFamily5G, or something similar to this.
The main differences that the wireless frequencies provide become apparent when looking at the range and speed of the two. The 2.4 GHz band is great for connecting over longer distances but offers slower speeds due to more traffic on the network. On the other hand, the 5 GHz band offers coverage for shorter distances but provides the users with faster speeds.
Another important difference is that the 2.4 GHz band just cant support as many devices and can quickly become bogged down.
While the 5 GHz band is newer and offers more channels than the 2.4 GHz band, it cant reach as far. With this in mind, here a few things to consider when trying to decide on the perfect router for you.
The Difference Between 24 Ghz And 5 Ghz
First, you have to understand what the two types of connections are. With 5 GHz, its a faster, more powerful connection, but the distance on it is a little bit limited.
And 2.4 GHz is kind of the opposite. It’s a little less robust, but it can cover a greater distance and work better through walls.

How To Set Up Smart Devices On A 24 Ghz Connection
Here’s a handy workaround for smart home devices that require a 2.4 GHz connection
We talk about smart home devices quite a bit, but there’s an issue that I ran into and I know a lot of you have run into it as well. And that’s trying to set up a smart home device that specifies that it needs a 2.4 gigahertz connection.
But this device just isn’t connecting and it won’t seem to work. Well, I figured out a workaround that you can use for that: If you’re using a Wi-Fi system that chooses automatically, you just need to get far enough away from the router to flip over to that 2.4 GHz connection.
