How To Fix Different Device Problems
1. As your typical IT guy will tell you, your first step is to restart your device. This is a standard troubleshooting solution and could be the fix you need to get connected to Wi-Fi again.
2. Your next step is to check your network adapter. Sometimes connection issues arise because your computers network adapter might not be enabled.
On a Windows computer, check your network adapter by selecting it on the Network Connections Control Panel. Make sure the Wireless connection option is enabled.
On a Mac, look for the Wi-Fi card in the top right corner of your screen . Click on the option to Turn Wi-Fi On. If your menu icon doesnt show anything in the menu bar, Apple recommends selecting System Preferences from the main Apple menu, selecting the Network icon and then clicking on Wi-Fi. From there, check the box to Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar.
To check if your wireless adapter is enabled on other Apple devices, check your settings to make sure the device isnt in airplane mode and that Wi-Fi connectivity is on. On Android devices, check your settings to make sure the devices airplane mode is off and that Wi-Fi is on.
Software issues might come up if you have a computer virus, which could disable or block your ability to connect to Wi-Fi. Youll want to scan your computer or device for viruses and remove any if found. Then restart your computer and try connecting again.

Thoughts On Cant Connect To Wi
Connects to Wi-Fi but no internetI have a Samsung Exhilarate Actually it is my second one. After spending hours and hours on the phone with the CS reps at Consumer Cellular they gave up and sent me another phone. This one is having the same problem. Connects to Wi-Fi but cannot get internet or, with this one, now even register my google account to use data if I wanted to. After I turn Wi-Fi on and go to add a google account, it goes back to the Wi-Fi screen. If I go to home screen and try to get to internet, wont do that either. Have tried everything on your site except going to factory defaults as both phones are brand new and both could not have the same defect, right? BTW, I have a Kindle Fire which works just fine on the WI-FI network. That is the only other device using Wi-Fi except a box on my TV which I never useto record any of their crappy movies. Im not even sure that uses WI-FI Can you help I have literally spent days on this and so far 6-8 reps havent figured it out! I am ready to go back to my clam shell.

When Your Iphone Connects To All Wi
This scenario makes it very difficult to diagnose the problem, especially in an Apple Store. Usually, the customer cant reproduce the issue because it only happens at home. The best a technician can do is offer some generic advice, reset some settings, and wish the customer best of luck. I hope this article will be more helpful than that, because unlike a Genius, you can take it home with you.
Before we dive deeper, I find it helpful to restate the problem: Your iPhone wont connect to Wi-Fi because there is a problem with your iPhone or your wireless router. Problems with iPhones are easier to diagnose, so well start there.
Why My Phone Won’t Connect To Wi
Before you jump onto the solutions, you may want to know what it is that is causing the issue on your device. There are several possible things that may be causing the issue on your device including the configuration of your network settings, your router, and even Bluetooth.
The following section has fixes for all these possible culprits, so you do not face the issue ever again on your phone.

Authentication Failed Error Message
Authentication issues are often a problem with the password. It tries to verify/authenticate the password that you are using to log into your router/network and if the password is wrong then it fails to authenticate and will show an Authentication failed error message. Following the first step in this article and triple checking the password can usually help to resolve authentication failed errors and allow you to get back on track and connected to your network once again. So quadruple check the password one more time just for good measure and make sure that it is 100% correct in every way.
I have seen however where the correct password and Wi-Fi information is entered but the cell phone keeps displaying an Authentication failed error message.
If this is the situation that you find yourself in, then try this
Manually turn off the Wi-Fi and mobile data on your device, and then turn ON the airplane mode, while airplane mode is still active turn the Wi-Fi back on and then try to connect to the network again. Once the Wi-Fi is connected then you can turn airplane mode off. Dont forget about the airplane mode though because if it remains on then your phone wont receive calls or allow mobile data when you want to use it. This process sounds a little strange but this can sometimes solve this annoying authentication failed error message.
Solution 1: Date And Time
Those who frequently travel, especially between time zones, may notice problems with their Wi-Fi because the date and time of your android smartphone plays an important role. It must match the date and time on the router that you are trying to connect to, or else you may not establish a connection.
Ensure that your phones date and time reflect the date and time of the location you are at. You can change the details by navigating to your phones Settings menu and then tapping on Date and Time. Next, you must change the date and time to your current location and then connect to the Wi-Fi.

There Is Something Wrong With Your Device
If none of the above-mentioned problems are why you still cannot connect to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, then the real problem here might be your device itself.
You probably have a device thats already equipped with the capacity to connect to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, and you have already updated its OS and configured its settings. Meanwhile, you may have already checked with your Internet Service Provider to see if you can connect to the internet using a 5 GHz router.
But if the problem persists and you cannot connect to the internet, the best solution is to check with the manufacturer on your device or your hardware to see if there is a problem with it.
Either go to an authorized service center or contact the manufacturer customer support by phone or chat. You can check the device to see if hardware problems prevent you from connecting to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network. Troubleshooting to see if it was the hardware that was preventing you from connecting to the network.

Unknown Devices On My Wi
Log into your Wi-Fi app or administrator settings . Look for a list of currently connected devices and pinpoint the devices you dont recognize. First, make sure these dont represent connections you didnt realize you had each smart device will have its own connection, for example, and they can have some strange titles if you didnt name them. Game consoles and TVs may also be connected.
If youve ruled out all your own potential devices, and theres still a connection or two you dont recognize, its possible someone else is hijacking your Wi-Fi network. In this case, look in your settings for an option to block these devices on your Wi-Fi, and ban their MAC addresses, if possible. Then change your Wi-Fi password, and reboot your router . This may not stop especially determined hackers, but its usually enough to kick unwanted guests off your network.
The Satellite Routers On My Mesh Network Arent Connecting
Make sure that your satellite devices are powered up and turned on. If they are, try unplugging and replugging the problematic device and see if it will connect to your network then. If your router app allows you to restart a Wi-Fi point , then reboot that point and see if this helps, too.
Google also allows you to run a test to make sure the network is set up properly. You can find Wifi points on the Home app, under Test mesh. If the test comes back with a weak or failed connection, you should try repositioning your satellite routers to be closer to your primary router. This also is a good tactic for any mesh system that keeps dropping its satellite points they could be too far away from the primary point.
You can also double-check to make sure that your satellite router devices have a different SSID than your primary router. If they were accidentally all assigned the same SSID, then the mesh network may not be able to coordinate properly.
If your router still seems unable to connect, then make sure that nothing significant has changed for your network settings. For example, if your ISP WAN type changed for some reason, you may have to go back into settings for the router and make sure that the right WAN setting is chosen.
There are additional special cases where certain Wi-Fi technology can interfere with mesh networks, so its also a good idea to contact router support directly and explain your situation if nothing is working.
